In this issue of the ETU members' magazine you’ll see how our union has been reaching out in the Victorian community to support opportunities for children and their families, those with disabilities and those who need some brightness in their lives.

I’m incredibly proud that we are a union whose heart beats for and with the community and the ETU are committed to assist those in need.

From dragon boats to kids’ sports – we are giving back.

In April I was proud to attend, alongside now-President Danny Filazzola, a Dreamworks Lights Show event in Mornington. The union sponsored the event for Challenge, supporting kids with cancer.

Kids’ faces lit up as they entered a world of dragons, princesses and Shrek. It was great to give them a day where they could just be kids.

In this issue you’ll also see the difference our support is making for the ETU Sparx, a wheelchair rugby team who are taking the league by storm.

We’ve also been supporting the Electric Eels footy team who I’m told are doing well this season. It’s great to be able to sponsor their uniforms so there are no barriers for kids getting stuck in and active. Plus, it’s a great way to show parents and the community our union values – teamwork, hard work and mateship.
