Members of the Victorian Drag Boat Club (VDBC) were busy over the June long weekend installing community seating at the National Water Sports Centre, Bangholme.

Bench seats that were installed along the water-way were funded by the Federal Stronger Communities Program.

The seats are manufactured locally from recycled plastic.

“ETUVIC has been a sponsor of the VDBC for some years and assisted the Club in lodging the application for the funding”, said ETUVIC Executive Member, Graeme Watson.

“The Federal Member for Issacs, and the Shadow Attorney General, Mark Dreyfus along with Victorian Political Adviser, Lee Tarlamis were instrumental in the Club achieving the funding,” said Graeme.

“The Club has been at the National Water Sports Centre since the 1980’s. As part of the User Group the Club is assisting in the multi-million redevelopment of the facility provided by the Victorian Daniel Andrews Labor Government,” said ETUVIC Shop Steward, Shannon Crundwell.

“When we were advised of the Federal Funding Program we considered it consistent with the community spirit of the Club. The installation of the seats will benefit all the Users and Clubs at the Centre including the General Public,” said Club President Rowan Crundwell.
